M-20iA

The FANUC M-20iA is a high-speed 6-axis robot with a 20 kg payload and 1,811 mm reach, built for the broad middle ground of industrial automation: assembly, machine tending, material handling, and light arc welding. Its combination of compact footprint, internal cable routing, and strong axis speeds has made it one of the most versatile and widely deployed robots in the FANUC lineup. The M-20iA is equally capable as a standalone machine-tending robot, a coordinated cell component alongside conveyors and fixtures, or an arc welding platform with through-arm cable routing.

The M-20iA’s fully hollow upper arm and wrist route utilities — electrical cables, air lines, and welding torch lines — through the interior of the arm from J1 to J3 and through the hollow wrist to the end-of-arm tool. This internal routing eliminates external dress packs that create interference risk in confined cells and require frequent replacement due to flexing wear. A dedicated peripheral equipment shelf on the upper arm allows cameras, valves, and EOAT electronics to be mounted directly on the robot, enabling more accurate offline simulation.

The M-20iA is compatible with R-30iA and R-30iB controllers in B-size cabinets, with iPendant and iPendant Touch available depending on controller generation. FANUC’s iRVision built-in vision system is directly compatible with the M-20iA’s integrated vision cable, enabling camera-guided pick-and-place and assembly without external vision processing hardware. Force Sensing, Collision Guard, and servo soft float options expand the robot’s capabilities for contact-sensitive assembly and compliance applications.
