KR 120 R2700-2

The KUKA KR 120 R2700-2 is a 120 kg payload robot with a 2,701 mm reach, the predecessor to the KR 120 R2700 extra in the KR QUANTEC series evolution. With the same payload and reach as the extra variant, the KR 120 R2700-2 delivers the same fundamental capability for automotive spot welding, heavy machine tending, and large-part material handling — with compatibility spanning KR C2 and KR C4 controllers for integration into a broad range of existing plant controller infrastructure.

The KR 120 R2700-2 is built on the proven KR QUANTEC mechanical platform, sharing the same structural architecture, joint construction, and IP54/IP65 protection as the current extra variant. The large installed base of KR 120 R2700-2 units across North American automotive and heavy manufacturing facilities ensures strong parts availability and technician familiarity. Many units in this configuration continue to operate in production well beyond their original design life with appropriate maintenance.

Compatible with both KR C2 and KR C4 controllers, the KR 120 R2700-2 provides integration flexibility for plants on either controller generation. The KR C2 offers a well-understood, widely supported platform; the KR C4 adds modern fieldbus connectivity, SafeOperation functional safety, and current software ecosystem compatibility. The KCP2 teach pendant serves the KR C2; the smartPAD serves the KR C4. KRL programming is consistent across both controller generations.
