Overview

KUKA KR 120 R1800 nano

The KUKA KR 120 R1800 nano is a 120 kg payload robot with a 1,801 mm reach in a compact package for its payload class — the nano designation indicating a smaller footprint than the standard KR QUANTEC variants at equivalent payload. The compact design enables installation in machine tending and material handling cells where floor space is constrained, allowing the KR 120 R1800 nano to work alongside machining centers and production equipment in layouts that would not accommodate a larger robot of equivalent payload capacity.

The KR 120 R1800 nano’s mechanical design balances high payload capacity with a reduced physical envelope, achieved through optimized arm geometry and mass distribution. IP54 standard with IP65 wrist protection suits the coolant and contamination exposure of machine tending environments. The robust joint construction supports the high duty cycles and load demands of heavy machine tending — loading and unloading heavy castings, forgings, and machined components into production equipment.

Operating on the KR C4 controller in standard or compact cabinet configurations with smartPAD, the KR 120 R1800 nano supports KUKA’s full software suite including SafeOperation, mxAutomation for PLC integration, and KUKA’s machine tending technology package. Floor and inverted mounting options provide additional cell layout flexibility. KUKA.OfficeLite enables offline programming and simulation for cell layout verification before physical installation.

iGAM inspects and runs every KR 120 R1800 nano prior to shipping from our Detroit warehouse. For customers requiring a higher level of readiness, our reconditioning service includes full axis lubrication, servo drive inspection, controller servicing, cable assessment, and cosmetic restoration — bringing the robot to a customer-specified performance standard. We also accept KR 120 R1800 nano units from customers who need maintenance or repair performed on robots already in their facility, whether the issue is a failed component, degraded repeatability, or a robot coming out of a long storage period.
