M-900iB/280L

The FANUC M-900iB/280L is an ultra-heavy-payload robot with a 280 kg capacity and an extended 3,595 mm reach — the longest standard reach in the M-900iB series. The long-arm configuration enables the M-900iB/280L to span wide press lines, bridge between production stages separated by large distances, and reach over tall fixturing and conveyor structures without requiring a floor track. It is a primary choice for automotive stamping plant transfer applications where reach and payload must both be maximized.

The M-900iB/280L is built on the updated M-900iB mechanical platform, which brings improved grease retention, reduced maintenance intervals, and R-30iB controller compatibility versus the earlier M-900iA series. The extended arm structure maintains the structural rigidity required to control 280 kg loads at full reach extension without unacceptable deflection. The sealed joint design handles the press room environment — coolant mist, press oil, metal particulate, and temperature variation — that characterizes high-volume stamping production.

Compatible with R-30iA and R-30iB Plus controllers in A-size cabinets, the M-900iB/280L supports FANUC’s full software suite including Collision Guard for tooling protection at extended reach distances, iRVision for part guidance, and Zero Downtime predictive maintenance. The R-30iB Plus adds energy-saving functions relevant to the high duty cycles of press room automation. ROBOGUIDE offline programming is strongly recommended for extended-reach press transfer installations.
