M-20iA/12L

The FANUC M-20iA/12L is the long-arm variant of the M-20iA series, offering a 12 kg payload with an extended 2,009 mm reach for applications requiring a larger work envelope than the standard M-20iA’s 1,811 mm reach can provide. The extended reach allows the 12L to service larger machine tools, reach across wider fixture assemblies, and handle part presentations at greater distances from the robot base — all without the complexity and floor space requirements of a larger payload-class robot.

The M-20iA/12L shares the M-20iA’s hollow arm architecture, routing cables and utilities internally through the arm from J1 to J3 to minimize dress pack complexity and interference risk. The extended arm configuration increases the robot’s moment of inertia at higher reaches, which is accounted for in the 12 kg payload rating compared to the standard M-20iA’s 20 kg at the shorter reach. The slim arm profile is maintained in the long-arm configuration, preserving the M-20iA’s ability to work in confined spaces.

Compatible with R-30iA and R-30iB controllers in B-size cabinets, the M-20iA/12L supports the full FANUC software suite including iRVision, Force Sensing, and Collision Guard. iPendant and iPendant Touch are available depending on controller generation. ROBOGUIDE offline programming is particularly valuable for long-arm robot installations to verify reach, cable management, and singularity avoidance throughout the extended work envelope.
