Inside iGAM’s 220,000-Square-Foot Detroit Warehouse

Most of the traffic on Nevada Avenue has no idea what sits behind the wall. Inside is roughly 10,000 pieces of industrial equipment — robots, machining centers, press brakes, welders, material handling — inspected, catalogued, and ready to load out.

That building is now 220,000 square feet, and it is the reason a growing number of Detroit-area manufacturers have stopped treating used equipment as a last resort.

The timing helps. With freight costs up sharply over the last three months, a machine sitting twenty minutes away is worth considerably more than an identical machine sitting three states away. Buyers who find us tend to come back, and the reason they give is almost always the same: they didn’t expect this much inventory to be this close.

Coming home to Detroit

That’s not positioning. iGAM started in 2019 under the NRTC Automation umbrella and relaunched as a standalone business in 2024 with the purchase of the Mount Elliott Tool & Die building — a facility with real standing in Detroit’s industrial history. We outgrew roughly 70,000 square feet there inside of a year and moved into the current Nevada Avenue warehouse.

Both buildings came together in partnership with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, and the Mount Elliott redevelopment was among the first to receive a combined state and city funding incentive. Seven tenants operate out of Mount Elliott today, all of them using iGAM equipment.

A solutions provider, not a salvage yard

Buying used equipment has historically been a gamble. Unclear provenance, a vendor who disappears after the wire transfer, and a cheerful “good luck” as the truck pulls away.

We built the business to be the opposite of that. iGAM buys, sells, moves, and decommissions equipment depending on what the operation actually needs. Every machine that goes out the door has been vetted against our standard rather than the industry’s, and support doesn’t stop at the loading dock — it runs from sourcing through shipment.
